The proprietary Porocell™ matrices are an improved form of poly-L-lactide (PLLA) foams which are highly optimized in porosity and structure and can be used for 3-dimensional cell culture applications and in vivo tissue engineering in animals. The use of PLLA foams for tissue engineering has been described in the literature.
